Technology is central to how we move energy from source to use. As a Software Engineer, you will help build and evolve the platforms that support our renewable trading business while contributing to a major effort to bring multiple systems together into a single, long-term technology foundation. Working alongside skilled engineers and business experts, you will have the opportunity to influence both the solutions we build and the direction we take next.

About the Role

We are bringing together several platforms that have supported different parts of our business over many years. As we create a more unified technology landscape, we are investing in the teams that will build, evolve, and maintain these systems for the future. This creates an exciting opportunity for experienced developers to influence both the direction of our technology and the way we work together as engineering teams.

Depending on your skills, experience, and interests, you will either join an existing team where you can quickly contribute and learn from colleagues with deep domain expertise or become part of a team focused on shaping the next generation of our platforms. We carefully match new colleagues to the environment where they are most likely to succeed, supported by a structured onboarding programme, a dedicated buddy, and experienced colleagues who will help you build domain knowledge from day one.

As part of this role, you will:

• Lead the design, development, and enhancement of backend services and APIs using .NET C#.

• Drive architectural decisions that ensure our solutions are scalable, secure, and maintainable.

• Build and enhance desktop applications using WPF while integrating systems through modern Web APIs.

• Develop resilient cloud-native solutions using AWS, Kubernetes, messaging technologies, and modern database platforms.

• Mentor fellow engineers and contribute to engineering excellence through code reviews, testing practices, and continuous improvement.

About You

You are an experienced software engineer who enjoys solving complex problems and turning ideas into reliable, scalable solutions. You thrive in collaborative environments where people challenge each other, share knowledge, and work together towards a common goal. While strong technical skills are important, we're equally interested in your curiosity, judgement, and ability to help others succeed.

We're particularly interested in candidates who bring:

• Significant experience developing enterprise applications using .NET C#.

• Strong knowledge of modern software engineering practices, including cloud technologies, system design, and DevOps.

• Proven experience designing distributed systems and making sound architectural decisions.

• A passion for building maintainable, well-tested software with long-term sustainability in mind.

• The ability to partner effectively with business stakeholders, alongside experience with technologies such as AWS, Kubernetes, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Datadog, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and MSSQL.

Previous experience within energy trading is beneficial but not essential. Strong engineering capability, technical leadership, and a growth mindset matter far more than industry background.
