If you are a student who enjoys a high-impact working environment at the forefront of the markets, and you want to see algorithms go from a first spark to actively trading in a matter of weeks, you might be the Student Assistant we are looking for to join us in the Algorithmic Trading team!

The role

Your role as Student Assistant will challenge your creative and technical abilities while you work alongside experienced Quant Traders and Algo Developers. You will get hands-on exposure to the many aspects of algorithmic trading — from data exploration and research to backtesting, implementation, deployment, and monitoring — all while continuing your studies.

On an average workday, your main responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the research, development and validation of trading strategies in short-term power markets across Europe and North America, including data analysis and backtesting
• Contributing to the creative process around new algo trading concepts by sharing and refining ideas with the team
• Helping to develop and maintain tools that support our algorithmic trading operations
• Assisting with the monitoring and maintenance of live trading strategies

Together with Quant Traders, Algo Developers, and traders, you will contribute to monetizing the aforementioned business areas via algorithmic trading, while gaining practical experience and learning from people at the top of their field.

This is a part-time student position, designed to fit alongside your studies, and is based out of one of our locations Copenhagen, Denmark.

The team

We are a cross-disciplinary commercial team consisting of top-level people with diverse quantitative backgrounds, such as mathematicians, physicists, software engineers and computer scientists. We share a mission of spearheading research, development, deployment, and operation of trading algorithms within energy commodity markets.

Your qualifications

We expect you to be currently enrolled in a master’s programme in mathematics, physics, computer science, engineering, or a closely related field. No prior work experience is required.

Furthermore, we expect that you:

• Are talented and passionate about data science and/or quantitative modelling

• Have a strong interest in trading

• Bring a commercial mindset and the confidence to take your models to the market

• Approach problems with curiosity, creativity, and an innovative spirit

• Are eager to learn and excel at developing original solutions
• Have working knowledge of Python or R

• Thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment

• Have good communication skills in English

It will be an advantage if you have:

• Previous experience from a relevant internship, student job, or project in data science, quantitative modelling, or trading
• Knowledge of or interest in short-term power markets in Europe or North America

• Strong interest in coding
