Sarah initially studied to become a PE teacher but stepped away from that career to become a full-time athlete. 

In 2025, she was the first British woman to win the Under-23 European Championships.

She cemented her reputation with a Commonwealth silver in 2018 and after winning the same colour medal in the - at the 2021 European Championships, headed to Tokyo for an Olympic debut.

She finished 5th and, just three months later, became the first British person to win a World silver medal by taking silver in the clean and jerk. She followed this up with a Commonwealth Games gold in Birmingham in the summer of 2022.

Alongside competing, Sarah also runs her own coaching business.
